Services

Members 55+ who live in Northampton, Florence, or Leeds can request services. It’s easy to request a service, but it is important to plan ahead, as it usually takes at least three days to schedule a service. Please don’t hesitate to ask if you have a special request. We may be able to help or suggest someone who can.

Call NN today--we're here for you.

IMPORTANT: Please read Health Check for In-person Services before requesting services. Please check back to review this page as it is updated as new guidance is made available.

 At Home

At home services may include tasks and small fixes such as: changing a lightbulb, watering plants, picking up mail while you are away, changing batteries in a hard-to-reach smoke detector, light garden work, walking your dog, and more.

  Neighborly Visits

At times, a Neighborly Visit is just the thing. Meet an NN volunteer at your home, in a garden or park, or out on the town for about an hour of conversation.

Hello, Neighbor

You can choose to receive a warm check-in from an NN volunteer, once a week or every so often by phone or text.

 Transportation

In general, we provide short trips around Northampton. This may include rides to appointments and social events, as well as grocery shopping and errands.

Preparing for the Future: A Practical Guide

Aging is a process, not a state of being. We approach it, sometimes rapidly, often slowly. How did we get here? For sure, aging is not for the faint of heart. So many changes; so many unknowns. And as is the case for all stages in our lives, it is best to be prepared. Our Preparing for the Future workbook is designed to serve as both a practical guide and a repository of information.

Click Preparing for the Future to download the guidebook.

NN knows how important health and wellbeing is to our members and our community. On the basis of age alone, most NN members remain in what is considered a high-risk group for respiratory infections. We still encourage avoiding exposure to respiratory viruses—such as COVID, influenza, RSV—and helping others to do the same.

To help protect the NN community, we encourage all our members, volunteers, and community partners to adopt best practices for minimizing the spread of communicable viruses. These best practices include:

    ● Being up to date with vaccines
    ● Wearing masks, especially in crowded indoor settings
    ● Maximizing ventilation
    ● Using antigen tests if you think you’ve been exposed to a respiratory
       virus or if you develop symptoms.

Have concerns? Let’s talk. Community health risk is fluid and ever-changing. We will continue to work with you to find safe solutions. Please send email to connect@northamptonneighbors.org or call 413-341-0160.

If you are providing or receiving direct, in-person services, please read our Health Check for In-person Services.

     Please note: NN does not provide:

  • Medical services such as medical maintenance or medical transport assistance;
  • Services to individuals who are bed-bound, frail, or not ambulatory;
  • Home repairs and services that require a licensed professional.
