Diversity, Equity, Inclusion, and Belonging (DEI+B) Statement
In all its activities and programs, Northampton Neighbors as an organization strives towards the full participation and fair treatment of all people. Fundamentally, Northampton Neighbors belongs to its members because we are who our membership is. We welcome and encourage the thoughts and ideas of members, and our programming is ever changing because of our members’ views, interests, and passions. We believe in a welcoming environment for people of all backgrounds, including those who currently are, or historically have been, impoverished, underrepresented, or discriminated against. We encourage free speech and respect.
Our membership is not limited by age, race, ethnicity, color, sex or sexual identity, gender or gender identity, social class, language, culture, learning styles, national origin, creed or religion (or the lack of either), political views, or associational preferences. We take pride in and learn from our differences.
"If we laugh and sing a little as we fight the good fight of freedom, it makes it all go easier."
—Sojourner Truth (lived at 35 Park Street, Florence, 1850-1857)
